The workshop will be held in Salt Lake City at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at City Creek, on February 26th and 27th.
GNARUM, the leading international company in variable energy generation forecasting, will be participating in the Forecasting Workshop organized by the Utility Wind Integration Group (UVIG). Carlos Alberto Castaño, head of GNARUM’s R&D department, will be presenting the latest developments on the algorithms used in forecasting and will utilize experience gained in the Spanish electricity market, where deviation costs are applied when energy produced doesn’t match energy forecasted, to explain the importance of accurate forecasts for energy trading. This presentation will be included in Session 3, titled Use of Forecasts for Trading Operations.
The workshop will bring together utilities, producers, traders, and other group members involved in the wind and solar industry with hopes of:
- Developing a better understanding of the value of Variable Generation Forecasting in the day-ahead, hour-ahead, and real-time markets
- Exploring the practical aspects of using Variable Generation Forecasting models to schedule and operate power systems
- Developing a better understanding of Variable Generation Forecasting advances on the horizon
- Continuing an ongoing dialog between the Variable Generation Forecasting research, development, applications, and user communities.
